For more about these encounters between Chinese and people from other country, please check out the series “Encounters in China“ from the playlist Bahar Kilic was the first overseas student from Turkey to come to China after the Reform and Opening-up in China began, while Zhang Qiang was her mentor at Beijing Language and Culture University. Over the past 13 years, Zhang Qiang has taught Bahar the ways of the tea ceremony and calligraphy, and cultivated her into an outstanding translator. They have grown as close as father and daughter.
