There were strong thunderstorms in parts of Austria. While there was local heavy rain and hail from midday in the south and east, a thunderstorm line on the north side of the Alps caused widespread gusts of wind in the evening hours. In total, around 93,000 discharges were recorded across Austria, of which 32,500 were in Styria, 26,500 in Upper Austria, 12,400 in Lower Austria and 8,000 in Tyrol. The strongest gust of wind was recorded at 116 km/h in Waizenkirchen (Upper Austria) and the largest amount of rain at Kanzelhöhe (K) with 37 mm within an hour.
