This is the Intersex Awareness Day edition of Speak Out, a content series produced as part of the Be A Better Human initiative at UNSW. In this series, we talk to people who courageously share their personal experiences with racism, discrimination, harassment and bullying; sharing how they have been impacted and what they’ve learnt from it.
This year, Intersex Awareness Day fell during UNSW’s week-long Diversity Fest, so the Division of Equity Diversity & Inclusion brought together some exceptional speakers in the intersex, advocacy and LGBTQI spaces for this Speak Out discussion.
The speakers:
Alissia Marsh is a comedian, lesbian and intersex advocate. She is a champion for body positivity and has some rather remarkable body quirks that she uncovers during her sets. Marsh has performed across Australia, and has become a regular host and headline act at popular venues including the Comedy Lounge, Fremantle Comedy Factor, Laugh Resort and Lazy Susan’s Comedy Den.
