Restoration of a vintage german Glashütte Chronometer - GUB Caliber 70.3 service
This time I´m restoring a Glashütte Chronometer from the 60`s.
It´s powered by the GUB 70.3 caliber (chronometer certified).
The watch is in a bad condition: The gold-plating of the case is a bit damaged, the glass is scratched and the movement is not running like a chronometer should.
I need to replace the broken setting-lever screw and the second-wheel because it´s wobbling. After everything is cleaned and polished, I can re-assemble the movement with some fresh oil. After that, this watch is in a awesome beat ( 0 to 1 seconds per day) again.
I decided to keep the original gold-plating even if it is damaged a bit. I prefer a vintage-looking original plating then a brand-new looking not-original-plating. What would you prefer? Keep the original-plating or re-plate the case?
I hope you liked this restoration, if so, like, comment and subscribe ;)
