ANT KNITTING A NEST

Australian ants of the genus Camponotus knitting the entrance of their nest. This is probably a way to protect themselves against the smaller ants. Tapinoma and Iridomyrmex ants are very common around this area and they are sometimes observed getting inside the nests of larger species to kill them and eat them and their brood. #ants #Camponotus
