This Week in Volcano News; Vesuvius Earthquake Swarm; Galapagos Eruption
This week, an unusually large series of earthquakes struck underneath Mount Vesuvius, including its largest earthquake in 25 years. Elsewhere, in the Galapagos Islands, lava from an ongoing eruption of the Fernandina volcano has covered 8.1 square kilometers ( square miles). And in Russia, possible uplift and unusual activity may have been detected at the Mutnovsky volcano. This video will discuss these stories and list the 46 volcanoes which are currently erupting around the planet.
