Leonid & Friends concert September 3, 2023, in Howard, WI, at the Howard Commons Activity Complex Grand Opening Celebration. This was a somewhat rare opportunity to see the band for free. Leonid & Friends comprises the finest musicians in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus. Their set list continues to be dominated by Chicago tunes but they sprinkle in other artists in their performances. The band performs “September“, a song by Earth, Wind & Fire that is the typical encore/final song played by Leonid & Friends in concert. The tune was released as a single in 1978 and included as a track for The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire, Vol. 1. “September“ was very successful commercially and reached number eight on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
