Ethiopia the 2nd Country After Armenia to Accept Christianity Has the Oldest Bible in the World
Ethiopia, the second country after Armenia to accept Christianity as a state religion, is home to the world’s oldest Bible. Written in the ancient language of Ge’ez, the Ethiopian Bible predates the King James Version by nearly 800 years and contains over 100 books. Christianity arrived in Ethiopia in the fourth century A.D. through the efforts of missionary Frumentius, who converted King Ezana of the Aksum Empire.
