Travis Orbin - Nick Johnston Session - “Night Of The Living Dance“

This is fun ditty that sounds halfway between something you’d hear in a Tarantino flick then a surf movie; it’s also the first tune that I tracked for Nick’s album. I came up with a quick intro to kick it off. I was going for a more ’jazzy’ overall sound so I used a piccolo snare, coated heads on the bass drum -- with felt beaters -- and tom-toms and my 18“ flat ride. It was mixed by a pro, so the end product sounds a bit different but I’ve the isolated drum track on my website (’misc’/equipment lists). Full drum set transcription:
