Belgium deploys 300 soldiers to NATO’s response force in Romania

BELGIUM prepared to deploy 300 soldiers to Romania on Tuesday (March 1) as part of NATO’s Rapid Response Force, activated for the first time following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The troops, who will be under French command and who will stay for between three and six months, are part of the force which is made up of land, air, maritime and special operations. It is only being deployed to allied territory. NATO does not have troops in Ukraine but has bolstered its defence in countries down its eastern flank in recent weeks.
