“The trust is gone” - tensions on the rise in Norway after restrictions for Russian fishing vessels.

Tensions are rising in the north of Norway after the government forbade local shipyards to repair Russian fishing vessels. We spoke with those who are afraid for their jobs and those who call for the total ban of Russian ships in reaction to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. We also got unique access to a Russian fishing vessel docked in Kirkenes and asked its crew to comment on the recent accusations that Russian fishing vessels could be used to spy in Norway. We also traveled to the arctic capital of Norway - Tromsø - to meet the head of a shipyard and witness a Russian ship caught out by sanctions. We also attended a gathering of shipyard employees worried about their future. How is the geopolitical turmoil affecting the lives of people in the Arctic? Watch the video report! Correction: Daniel Nyhagen is not “the owner“ of the “Tromsø Mekaniske“ shipyard He is the general manager of the shipyard.
