The Ancient Egyptian Lyre - RECREATED!

A live performance in HD, on an actual replica ancient Egyptian Lyre! This piece, “The Holy Nile“, features as track 7 on my 2020 album, “The Ancient Egyptian Lyre“: This lyre was reconstructed from the dimensions of a miraculously surviving ancient Egyptian lyre, dating to circa 1,500 BC - now preserved in Leiden: The video features an arrangement for solo ancient Egyptian lyre of “The Holy Nile“, which I originally composed in collaboration with the Egyptian composer, Remon Sakr, for his 2017 album, “Epic of Thebes (Story of Passion and War)“ - a musical journey into the era of Pharaoh Ahmose I and his struggle against the Hyksos: I had the unique honour of collaborating with Sakr in the production of this amazing album, in creating the lyre improvisation which forms the theme for the melodic line in both this track and also in track 7, “Salvation’s Hymn for Amun (In the North Temple of Amun)“. Sakr skillfully orchestrated the melodic theme I created, resulting in a wondrously evocative re-creation of ancient Egyptian music, with sublime, exotic tonal textures and timbres. “Epic of Thebes (Story of Passion and War)“ is available from all major digital music stores and streaming sites: Itunes: Apple Music: Amazon: =sr_1_1_rd?_encoding=UTF8&child=B01NCZJ9MI&qid=1485640469&sr=1-1 TIDAL: Spotify: Google play Epic of Thebes (Story of Passion and War)/EAY Yandex: Groove: The replica Leiden lyre I am playing, was custom-made for me, by Luthieros: Support: Subscribe: Official Artist Links: Official Website: Facebook Page: Twitter: iTunes: Spotify: Amazon: Bandcamp: CD Baby:
