Gilt & Silk - 17th Century Costume at the Burrell Collection

This new display showcases early seventeenth-century costume in The Burrell Collection. The highlight is an extremely rare crimson silk satin petticoat embroidered with a variety of flowers and birds that will be displayed full-length for the first time. Dating from about 1610-1620, its provenance suggests that it may have belonged to Anne of Denmark, the wife of James VI and I.
