Деревня и керамика Онта на острове Кюсю

Onta Village 小鹿田焼 is one of the most unique places to discover in all of Japan - and that’s not just in terms of its ceramics. Onta Pottery is the name of a type of stoneware pottery made for everyday usage -- typically called ’mingei’ (folk art or craft) in Japanese. The community is situated in the Hiko mountain range, about 17 kilometres from the centre of Hita City, and is said to have been established in 1705 to make large wares -- lidded jars for pickled vegetables and fruit, water crocks.
