Employees Own a Slice of the Business at Pizza Co-Op in California

A pizza place in Silicon Valley is conducting an experiment of sorts, not with crazy toppings, but with its business model. Kirk Vartan is the founder of Slice of New York. Six years ago, he started selling the company to his employees as a leveraged buyout, meaning they took out a loan. They formed a board and are paying it back with their pizza profits.
