The Belgorod Brit, ever topical, talks about an essay written by Erasmus of Rotterdam in 1509. He makes the case that the elites of today are unconcerned with their place in history, philosophy and theology, and no longer share a common understanding of the under-pinnings of what constituted Western civilisation. At least I think that is what he is saying. In the podcast, BB charts how elite institutions descend into apathetic farce, and how the very concept of elite power in the West has become a depraved joke. Noblesse obliges us to shake ourselves of ethics, morality and any duty to our fellow man, apparently.
