On March 18, the first space walk in the world was conducted by Soviet cosmonaut Alexey Leonov. He moved metres away from the spacecraft , and spent 12 minutes in open space. Leonov was one of 20 members of the first cosmonaut squad. What did the candidates have to endure before the first human being flew into space? What happened to them afterwards?
