Inventing Ukraine - The creation of an entire anti-Russian state by the West

Historians believe that back in the 16th century, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth began to form the nationalist project of ’Ukraine’. It was promoted in different periods by Austria-Hungary, the Third Reich and the United States. What methods did these states use to force the native Russian people to abandon their roots? When did the first Ukrainian nationalists appear? And how did the West use them to weaken the USSR, and then Russia?
