Taping was done at a Grand Funk show at the ’Pirates World Amusement Park’ theatre, in Dania, Florida. The date was January 16 1970, but some of the footage was filmed the very next day... (Grand Funk played both 16 & 17 at the Pirates World)
Barry Mahon -the one man crew film maker- who relocated there after New York, was arranging for ’big name groups’ appearances at the Pirates World and use to film them with his single camera. (the reason why very limited footage existing from any angle)
Then again, as the footage film still was very limited, he would use some psychedelic drawings filling the gap... He also created a psychedelic title track intro for the movie.
Without GFR’s and/or Knight’s permission Mahon added this footage to the original 1967 movie ’Mondo Daytona’ and renamed it to ’Weekend Rebellion’ in 1970. The promo poster for the two -low budget- movies came as pack (he also did ’Musical Mutiny’ w/ Iron Butterfly) re
