Returning to Rolling Hills Asylum nearly 15 years later.
Rolling Hills Asylum, originally named the Genesee County Poor House, was established in 1827 in East Bethany, New York. It served as a refuge for the poor, mentally ill, orphans, widows, & the elderly. Over time, it housed a variety of individuals, including those with physical disabilities & criminals. The institution operated as a poorhouse until the 1950s, then served as a nursing home until its closure in 1974.
With a history spanning nearly 150 years, Rolling Hills Asylum became known for its eerie atmosphere & reports of paranormal activity. The building’s long corridors, abandoned rooms, and tragic history have inspired many ghost stories. One of the most famous spirits said to haunt the asylum is “Roy,“ a 7-foot-tall man with gigantism who lived there for much of his life. Witnesses claim to have seen his apparition & heard his footsteps echoing through the halls.
