Desperado - Eagles cover

“Desperado”, one of the most famous Eagles songs, was written by Glenn Frey and Don Henley. The song first appeared on the 1973 album Desperado, but was never released as a single. Desperado was the beginning of the Glenn Frey and Don Henley songwriting team. Along with Desperado, they also wrote “Tequila Sunrise“ in the first week of their songwriting collaboration. According to Henley on numerous occasions, he was given only four or five vocal takes to record the song by the producer Glyn Johns, who wanted to record the album quickly and economically. Henley recounted that he felt intimidated by the large London Philharmonic Orchestra, and he would later express regret that he felt that he did not sing the song as well as he could. Interestingly, according to an interview with Don Henley, “Desperado“ was not a hit for the Eagles until Linda Ronstadt did a cover recording of it on her 1973 album, “Don’t Cry Now”.
