E.i.’s melodic cadence and rap sing describes the emotions of feeling distant from God, wasting his life in prison, yet coming to terms with it all, and moving forward in life. The recorded prison phone call from E.i. at the end of the song leaves the listener with chills, hearing E.i.’s weariness and his longing to just come home and be free.
