Hamburg, Germany - Swans Travel By Boat To Warmer Area

The people of Hamburg, Germany, on Tuesday witnessed the annual transfer of dozens of swans from the city centre lake to a pond more suitable for them to spend the winter months, helped by a man known as the “Swan Father.“ The swans are traditionally moved by boat every year to avoid getting stuck in the frozen Alster Lake. The first forty swans were transported to their winter home on the nearby pond, the Eppendorfer Muehlenteich.
