Tromsø Arctic Cathedral in 60 Seconds - A Landmark of Northern Norway | @cities_arctic

@cities_arctic Youtube: Welcome to Tromsø. The Arctic Cathedral is a true landmark of northern Norway. The pronounced cross that marks the cathedral’s entrance can be seen from all over the city’s waterfront. Despite its modern appearance, the striking building, which is actually a local parish church, has been open since 1965. The exterior features 11 aluminium coated concrete panels on each side of the roof. The church continues to function as a parish church with services, weddings and funerals, but it’s also open for tourists for a few hours most days. During the summer, midnight sun concerts are held here. The interior is relatively simple, aside from the dominant stained glass window named “The Return of Christ” at the far end of the church.
