Resident Evil WAS NOT Inspired by Sweet Home (It Was Alone in the Dark)

The real inspiration behind Resident Evil is a lot more diverse than Sweet Home. Resident Evil may have coined the term survival horror, but I want to make the case that adventure games like Maniac Mansion and Alone in the Dark had a bigger inspiration on Resident Evil’s development. Resident Evil director Shinji Mikami said he never intended to make a Sweet Home successor, despite what the internet tells you. Mikami said specifically that Alone in the Dark was a big influence on Resident Evil.
