Britain’s Got Talent dog Finn dies: Heroic German Shepherd who was stabbed

Finn, the heroic police dog who won the hearts of the nation on Britain’s Got Talent, has died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 14. The German Shepherd, who reached the finals of the 2019 edition of the ITV talent show with his owner PC Dave Wardell, was stabbed in the chest and head while pursuing a robbery suspect in 2016. Despite his serious injuries, Finn did not let go of the attacker until backup arrived, saving his handler’s life. Finn recovered from his wounds and returned to duty, before retiring in 2017. He was honoured with the PDSA Gold Medal, which is known as the animals’ George Cross, for his bravery3. He also inspired a campaign that led to the Animal Welfare (Service Animals) Act 2019, nicknamed Finn’s Law, which gave greater protection to service animals from attack. On Britain’s Got Talent, Finn amazed the judges and viewers with his magic tricks and mind-reading skills, earning a standing ovation from Simon Cowell. He also became an ambassador for the Thin Blue Paw Found
