Middle earth Revisited Three New Animated Projects Based on Tolkiens Works Announced

Fans of . Tolkien’s epic fantasy world of Middle-earth have a lot to look forward to in the next few years. Not only is Amazon’s ambitious live-action series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power set to premiere on September 2, 2022, but there are also two new animated projects in the works that will explore different aspects of the rich lore and history of Tolkien’s creation. The first one is The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, a feature film that will be released in theaters on April 12, 2024. The film is directed by Kenji Kamiyama, who is known for his work on anime series such as Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Netflix’s Ultraman. The screenplay is written by Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou, with Philippa Boyens, who won an Oscar for co-writing The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, serving as a consultant.
