KUKA robot sculpts artwork during Marmomac fair in Verona
During the Marmomac trade fair, ’The Applaud’ project was presented, showing how work of art is created. Marble and stone processing expert Donatoni Group used a KUKA KR240 R2900 marble milling robot to create a sculpture by A. Senoner during the 4-day fair. The artist simply created a scaled-down model of the final work, which was 3D scanned and processed with CAD/CAM software to determine the path to be followed by the robot. During the event, visitors were able to see the marble artwork take shape before their eyes. The video shows the entire process, from the creation of the model to the actual milling, giving an idea of how the technology can be used to improve the production of marble artwork and design.
