The artists asked themselves what their theme should be: what does it mean to be at Chautauqua? What do we bring to Chautauqua that isn’t currently being done? The collective quickly realized that it was the need to express oneself that had brought them together; the desire to collaborate with other artforms and muddle the boundaries between disciplines.
