Germany: Smoke billows outside Berlin’s Rigaer 94 squat as protesters set barricades on fire

Subscribe to our channel! Police cleared barricades and extinguished fires reportedly set by supporters of the ’Rigaer 94’ squat to prevent a firing inspection test, in Berlin on Wednesday. Police could be seen using a water cannon to extinguish the flames, which sent smoke billowing over Berlin’s skyline that could be seen from afar, and used an armoured personnel carrier to clear the barricades from the road. According to the police, around 200 masked people attacked the emergency services in the morning throwing stones. They said 60 officers were injured. Authorities were already setting up a restricted zone and implemented a ban on demonstrations from Wednesday afternoon outside the property in preparation for a fire inspection. The occupants have vowed to resist the inspection test to be carried out at the property on Thursday as they believe it will be used as a pretext to evict them on safety grounds by the building’s owner. #Germany #Berlin #Rigaer94 #BerlinSquat #Rigaer94Squat
