Tower - Goin’ Home - 20-08-1982 • TopPop

Tower was a Dutch group from The Hague and Leiden, consisting of Marian Pijnaker (vocals), Ton Hoogeboom (drums), Cor van der Hoogt (vocals, guitar), Henk Van Loon (keyboards, violin, vocals) and Ben Peterzen (bass guitar). The band released the album ’Titan’ in 1982 on Dureco Records, produced and co-written by Cat Music. The album is characterized by music strongly reminiscent of Electric Light Orchestra, while the voice of singer Pijnaker has been compared to that of British singer Kim Wilde. The single ’See You Tonight’ reached the twelfth position in the National Hitparade of the Netherlands and the eleventh position in the Dutch Top 40. The single was chosen as record of the week in Frits Spits’ radio program ’De Avondspits’. The follow up single ’Goin’ Home’ achieved #20 in the National Hitparade in 1982 and #15 in the Top 40. After 1983 the group fell apart, Pijnaker and Van Hoogt formed a new group in 1985, ’Split Decision’, and shortly afterwards, without success, they resumed as Tower. Pijnaker en Van Hoogt vormden in 1985 een nieuwe groep, Split Decision, om kort daarna, zonder succes, weer verder te gaan als Tower. De groep Split Decision bracht één single uit, getiteld Action.
