April Shower consists of singer Heddy Affolter and guitarist and former Schiphol employee Gert Balke. The duo was discovered in 1969 on a talent show by Herman van Veen. The single ’Railroad Song’ became a modest hit in 1971. In 1972 April Shower toured Canada, the United States and Mexico. The single ’Danny’s Song’ (1973), adapted from a song by The Carpenters, is recorded in London with the orchestra of Norrie Paramor (1913-1979). From 1974 Affolter continues solo under the name Heddy Lester. In 1977 she represented the Netherlands during the Eurovision Song Contest with the song De Mallemolen.
This video was shot on the railroad in Holland between De Veranda and the Bosbaan In Amsterdam. It is part of the film ’Pop van Jan de With’ from 1971.
