California Science Center // Full ET-94 Lift & Installation
The California Science Center continued Go for Stack with the installation of ET-94, which was mated to the Solid Rocket Boosters at the construction site of the future Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center.
The last remaining flight-qualified External Tank in existence, ET-94 is the largest component of the shuttle stack, weighing 65,000 lbs. and standing 154 feet top to bottom, with a diameter of 27.5 feet. ET-94 will ultimately be a part of the world’s only authentic, ready-to-launch space shuttle stack in the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center.
Go for Stack is the complex, multi-phase process of moving and lifting each of the space shuttle components into place for Endeavour’s upcoming awe-inspiring 20-story vertical display in the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center. This upcoming addition to the California Science Center will serve as a launchpad for creativity and innovation which will inspire future generations of scientists, engineers, and explorers.
