Van der Graaf Generator Piper Club, Rome, Italy February 9th, 1972 Audience Recording Quality: B- Finally, a fairly listenable recording. “Darkness (11/11)” starts out powerful with some colourful phrasing on the second verse. “Lemmings” here has some unique keyboard sounds courtesy of Banton during “Cog”, and all around great drumming from Evans and vocals from Hammill. Speaking of great drumming, this version of “Octopus” is also quite intense. It’s always a pleasure to have a full tape that sounds decent and is a great performance. Highly recommended show.
