Jimi Hendrix: Rainbow Bridge - Full Theatrical Release
The original, uncut, 125-minute video is sourced from a set of three MovieCDs. It was originally restored from the sole remaining 16mm print in existence. This cinematic journey delves into the mystical and musical realms, featuring non-scripted interviews. Explore profound discussions on life, death, intertwined with the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Jimi Hendrix, accompanied by drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Billy Cox, delivers an unforgettable performance atop Hawaii’s Haleakala Volcano. They showcase some of their greatest hits, including Purple Haze and Foxey Lady. Jimi shares his beliefs on death, which some perceived as prophetic, given his demise only three months later.
The MovieCD files were initially encoded with Motion Pixel MVI2 codecs, which are no longer supported after Windows 98. To make this historic footage accessible, the three .avi files underwent conversion to uncompressed .avi format using VirtualDub. Subsequently, the three files were merged, and the resolution was enhanced from 320x236 to 720x531. This process involved the VirtualDub filters of Dynamic Noise Reduction, Smart Deblock, and Smart Sharpness, ensuring an enhanced viewing experience.
