The two collections of pieces from Tobias Hume “Musical Humors“ and “Captain Humes Poeticall Musicke“ are one of the earliest solo publications for the lyra viol (a small bass viol), dated 1605 and 1607. Very little is known about his life, but these two collections of music are a living manifest of his passion for music and the instrument itself.
Joshua Cheatham and Robert Smith transport us to another time and tell us about Hume’s music, the lyra viol and their reflections upon them.
