His work combines the melodies and modes of the Middle Eastern-Oriental Mizrahi style with Western pop instrumentation and rhythms. Though he began singing as a child, Adam came to the public’s attention when he became a contestant on the seventh season of Kokhav Nolad, an Idol talent competition. He was later disqualified when a blogger revealed that he had been five months shy of his 16th birthday (the minimum age allowed for participation in competition). It made no difference in terms of his career, though, because by the time he was disqualified he had become an audience favorite and it was clear that the show’s producers would have made an exception if they could -- after all, he made the finals.
