1492: Conquest of Paradise - I Did It You Didn’t

1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992) Sanchez: [Columbus stops Sanchez after he leaves an audience with the Queen. Sanchez looks at him, disgusted---] You’re a Dreamer. Columbus: [shooting a glance out of a window] Look Out me, what do you see? Sanchez: [pausing to look] I see towers I see palaces, I see Steeples , I see civilization, and I see spirals that reach... to the sky! Columbus: All of them created by people like me. [Sanchez doesn’t respond - shocked] Columbus: No matter how long you live, Sanchez, there is something that will never change between us. I did it. You didn’t. ------------------- Sanchez continues his selfish futile escapades in attempts to profit from Columbus . Calling him a dreamer .. Columbus in turn tells him ... no matter what he does no matter how long he lives , he can never take away his dreams or the fact despite all adversity he always followed them in hope to achieve a goal . Because he is a dreamer he can separate reality from fantasy , engulf himself within his imagination and embrace the passions of the heart and soul .If necessary be driven by a relentless unstoppable will to power --and when achieving it ,let it go - because it not about the winning but the joy in working to get there .. Because of this he has traveled a journey and lived a more enlightened life outside of the box .... Columbus also reminds Sanchez it is because of producers of the spark :workers of love ,creativity, intelligence, courage ,art ,math ,philosophy etc ..everything around him exist and was created in nature and civilization through out history : by Dreamers(people like him ) .. Everything is free for all free to be discovered and interpreted .. It is people like him(Sanchez) that wish to own profit as a source of power ..No one owns them , They exist within and of themselves either within us or around us .... The real Columbus made that mistake before and did horrible things that he paid/pays the price for - a scar on his honor . But he is rewarded for his courage and willingness that persevered where others failed .He confronted all challenges head first against the tide with courage and confidence even when outnumbered and cast in the shadow of doubt by those around him ... Thus leaving behind a image source of inspiration and a lesson .. Victory and Honor go hand and hand .. In the End ... At least he did it .. He was always remained faithful to the cause carrying a light within the darkness ,no matter the cost.. at the very least He did it . Sanchez on the other hand too afraid to even try .. He is only interested in possessing and projecting .It seems he has a castration complex and people like Columbus ’ give him castration anxiety.. Columbus ’ state of being ,reality and life rips apart and shreds his narcissistic delusions , so much so he is intimidated by his very presence ..And we can see it in his eyes and actions . In his unresolved Oedipal complex and overwhelming insecurity, he is helpless .Time and time again resorting to passive aggressive actions ,gossip and devaluing in attempts to gain maintain approval while in denial . Never trying to confront adversity or grow from within .. Sanchez is no sage ,healer , poet , leader, guide , adventurer ,explorer ,philosopher ,lover or unspoken hero of the masses for any race ,country ,city ,gender or even himself , because he lacks the capability of seeing inward within himself or others . He acts selfishly not selflessly ..He would hurt others for his own benefits. He proves it throughout the production over and over again .Though given opportunity time and time again to correct the faults , his broken ego backs down in fear , in order to maintain approval .. If he can accept himself as himself and those around him as equals acknowledging different skills( -) different classes races genders identities etc ...all as our brothers and sisters .. or at the very least deserving of respect .. of fellow human .. not an objects .. maybe he can progress.. If he can’t he will forever remain deep within an abyss with his back turned away from the fire of love and clarity of light ..And thus be left forever burdened to carry a torch of nightmares deep within his soul that burns not only of lies but regret ;for him not so much of his wrong doing to others but his fear of never having what it takes to do what is for those around him or himself.
