Michael Jackson - A Place With No Name (80s Mix) [12“ Version] (with Syradelic)

Take me to… 🚊✨🏔 Here’s the 12“ extended cut of my 80s version of “A Place With No Name“ by Michael Jackson! 🛣 Honestly, this is one of my all-time favorite unreleased songs by him, as “A Horse With No Name” by America was one of my favorite songs growing up when I was little. Both songs give me deep nostalgia & a sense of escapism, so I always knew I would get to it. 💭 This extended version features vocals by Syradelic & yours truly! 👩🏻‍🦰 & Make sure you download it to get an unreleased track by Syradelic & myself! 🤫💿🔥 Enjoy! 😎🤘🏾🖤 Stay tuned… ♾ Special Thanks to Gek Mixes for lending me the “Leave Me Alone“ multitrack vocals! 🎤 Get it while it’s hot! 🔥 Seriously, I know some, if not most or all of these songs may get axed by “them“ at any moment, so please use the download links well and share the music (album/songs) with your friends so that the Groove’n’Funk never truly goes away. It was unknown this version existed. Although fans are familiar with the original version from the “Invincible” sessions in 1999-2001, as well as the contemporized version from the ”Xscape” album in 2014, it has been revealed that “A Place With No Name” was originally written and recorded as far back as 1986-1987 during the Forever & Bad sessions at Westlake Recording Studios in Los Angelos. The song is a clear rendition of/nod to the band America’s hit song “A Horse With No Name”, hence the guitar samples throughout the track. Shortly after writing the song, he began working further on this version from 1986-1987 with Quincy Jones, Joe Kehr and Sarah Greim aka Syradelic, a singer-songwriter/guitarist - all three he had been exclusively working with for his upcoming album(s). This would be Sarah’s third known collaboration with Michael after “Privacy” and “Groove Of Midnight”, although she’s not credited in the title. While the song runs around less than 5 minutes, the full-length version is over 10 minutes long. This is due to Michael experimenting with lyrics from another song idea he had called “Leave Me Alone” with Sarah adding her lyrics from a song idea she had called “River Bends”. Due to time constraints, the song was edited down to potentially fit on a vinyl if they ever decided to put it on an album. However, it was Michael’s idea to release the 12” extended version unedited with no cuts. While they all liked this version, including stamp of approval by the band America themselves, Quincy felt that the “Horse With No Name” interpolation was too much and that it needed to be changed. The other three, specifically Michael, argued to keep the song as it is, but understood the possible plagiarism accusations by the media, despite the band America’s approval. So, they ultimately shelved “A Place With No Name”. However, they kept many of the elements and the song later evolved into “Leave Me Alone”, a song he already had entire lyrics to, which would end up on the “Bad” album. Michael would later on revisit the song on & off, particularly, from the late 1980s until 1999-2001 for the ‘Invincible’ album, that one being produced by Michael himself and Dr Freeze. That version was actually considered for the tracklist of the album, but it ultimately never made it. The song remained unreleased until Michael finally felt it was finished in 2008, but never was able to release it in his lifetime. It was ultimately released and contemporized for the “Xscape” album in 2014, produced by Stargate. //// Connect With Me! 👁 Main Channel: Instagram: Twitter: Soundcloud: TikTok: @eulonzo - This is dedicated to: Bree, Karis, Anthony, and Ashley.
