DIY custom Sashiko thimble for your hand Part 1 - soft thimble tutorial #sashiko #stitch #handmade

Thank you for watching! Sashiko thimbles are not essential for Sashiko, but I think it really helps your stitching speed and the quality. As it’s not always easy to find Sashiko thimbles at local shops, I’ve been making my own thimbles. Some viewers asked me about my original thimbles so I thought it may be helpful to share how I make my thimbles for people who are experiencing the same challenge. I have made 2 different types so far - one is a soft type which I show in this video and a metal type which I will show in the next video. The reason I chose faux leather is because it’s inexpensive and easy to stitch on. Thick fabric like denim might be a good alternative but you need to make sure that you have enough layers to protect your palm and you stitch around it to prevent it from fraying.
