Very scary moment at an old cemetery in the mountains

We had a pretty scary moment at this old cemetery we visited in the mountains of New Mexico. It was ancient - possibly dating back to the 1500’s when Indians used to raid the villages back off what is called the Turquoise Trail. There were some beautiful ancient grave markers buried under juniper trees and snow. They went as far back into the hills as we could see. It was a very unusual surprise since the cemetery looked very small from the road. It didn’t look like the really old section of the cemetery had had a visitor in possibly 100 years. Headstones were nearly buried, collapsing into the ground, and most of the inscriptions could no longer be seen. There were sometimes markers on top of markers and gravestones right next to one another - almost touching. Some were actually piled three deep - or possibly more. I could only see what was visible.
