Ukraine spy chief’s wife poisoned, Kyiv says

A Ukrainian military spokesperson said that Marianna Budanova, the wife of Ukraine’s spy chief Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, is now being treated in hospital after falling ill. The spokesperson confirmed that several other intelligence agency employees also showed mild symptoms of heavy metals poisoning. 30-year-old Budanova had been feeling ill for a “prolonged period of time“ and local sources say she was poisoned through her food. Her husband, Budanov, who leads the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ukrainian military has been highly involved with clandestine operations against Russian forces throughout the war.
