Brothers Johnson ~ Stomp! 1980 Disco Purrfection Version

Summer in the 70’s would not have been the same without “I’ll Be Good To You“, “Get The Funk Out Of My Face“ and “Strawberry Letter #23“...man the sounds those brothers came up with to go with the titles Quincy would throw at them. When it came to “Stomp“, George thought it was a good title, but inspiration escaped him when it came to actually writing the words and music. In a marathon overnight writing session, notes were furiously written, then just as furiously crumpled up and thrown in the wastebasket. Soon, a return to the wastebasket to pull out some of the discarded music resulted in the #1 R&B and Disco/Dance chart hit “Stomp!“ After the song was completed, instead of heading off to bed, he booked studio time with Quincy that afternoon, sang it once and called it a day. This is funky disco, another one where the album version was the extended was a hit in the spring of 1980 and I was kinda feeling this one could use a slight I’m glad I did this one!
