Mariah American Karsilama Belly Dance

This folkloric-inspired dance mixes American-style Cabaret with elements of Turkish Karsilama. Music is from an old Turkish folksong called “Çadırımın üstüne“ (Rain is dripping on my tent). Among bellydancers it’s better known as “Rompi Rompi“ featuring the upbeat 9/8 rhythm, counted as 12-34-56-789. Bellydancer Mariah of Ohio is of Greek and Italian heritage.
