Toronto woman says TTC driver prevented her from leaving bus with her daughter

Rebecca Clements, a local Toronto resident and mother, rode a TTC bus with her four-year-old daughter Sophie last week — like she often does — however, was forced to stay aboard the vehicle by its driver when trying to get off at their stop. Clements was pushing her daughter in a stroller, when the driver asked to see the little girl. When she complied, the TTC employee told the mother to stay aboard the bus and blocked their exit. Following a complaint to the TTC by Clements, TTC officials told Global News the bus driver was “concerned about the well-being of what appeared to be an unresponsive child.” “I’m on alert. I’m nervous when I’m on the bus now, and I never used to be,” Clements said following the incident. Global’s Sean O’Shea has the latest.
