ZX SPECTRUM: The DIZZY history 1987-2021 + ALL 30 Official & Fan Made Games (with English Language)
The Dizzy series very soon became a chapter of it’s own on the ZX Spectrum. These adventure games became extremely popular, so popular that arcade action games and puzzle games starring Dizzy were also released. Some of the arcade games were based on other popular titles such as Pac-Man, Pengo and Toobin’. The official games were released by Code Masters, and the adventure games were made by The Oliver Twins (Andrew Oliver, Philip Oliver). Another important factor for the success was that all the games were released as budget titles sold for £2-3, except for the last one, Crystal Kingdom Dizzy, that was a full price game sold for £.
At first, Codemasters’ David Darling was not impressed by Dizzy, and wanted the Olivers to continue to create more Simulator games instead. However they mostly paid game developers only in royalties at that point, so they published it anyway since it constituted such a low risk for them. Initial sales were unremarkable, being similar to an average
