Dark age of cycling part III: The Secrets of Pantani

Marco Pantani was one of the most inspiring riders in cycling history. By many experts considered as the best climber ever. Marco Pantani won Tour de France and Giro d’Italia in 1998 but was disqualified from the Giro year later. His hematocrit level (over 50%) suggested blood doping using EPO. This allegation has been confirmed during retroactive EPO test in July 2013. Since then Pantani fall began. He never rebuilt top shape although was actively riding till 2004. Recently the trhird investigation has been opened against potential homicide of Pantani who was found death in Rimini in February 2004. Heart attack as result of cocaine poisoning was the direct death cause.
