Discovered: Michael Jackson’s Memoir Tapes - Volume 6

Welcome back to the Our MJ MEMOIRS - Lost Tape Series - Volume 6 Sometime back in the 80’s Michael Jackson sat down with an unknown biographer to record his memoirs for his first autobiography, Moonwalk Key talking points in Volume 6: (Sorry about the typos in the caption) MJ discussed his plans for a duet with Mick Jagger, the single, State Of Shock appeared on the Jackson’s album was inspired by 12-year-old kid named Randy Hasen, credited on the record for lyrics - - Michael discussed adding changes to Hansen’s lyrics, that were originally “too soft“ and expressed his deep pride when they received a gold album for the single. He says that it feels like the first time, every time he receives a gold album and expresses his gratitude that 1 million copies were sold. Later, MJ talks about Queen front man Freddie Mercury and the duet they recorded together. 1600 He recorded some tunes with him – but told him Mick would be on State Of Shock instead, which Freddy understood. (The MJ/ Freddie duet - will be soon available as Member’s ONLY content) When asked about who his dream collaboration is, MJ emphatically mentions Spielberg “I love Steven. I really do. We’re so much alike.“ Michael continually gushes about the genius of Spielberg and shares the history of their collaboration on the E.T. album. Michael references a letter that Speilberg wrote, paraphrasing: “You are The leader of innocence. Continue. Because there is a child before every second“ MJ talks about the story of ET - and how when he started flying “it was me“ How amazing to have a friend from another world, showing you their secrets, and being magical. MJ talks about his relationship with father figure, Quincy Jones - and how he is grateful to Quincy for correcting his grammar on the set of The Wiz. Michael ends this session on his dream to be a director - and believed whole -heartedly confesses that he believes he would make films that are as good as, or better than Spielberg, if only he had the chance to watch him. No instructions required, just having the ability to watch Steven make three films, will be enough for him to learn everything he needs to know about directing. And mastering the craft of believing.
