London has the world´s oldest and longest underground network. With 408 km and 274 stations ~3 million people use the tube every first underground section opened in 1863 between Farringdon and Paddington by the Metropolitan Railway. At the beginning the trains had steam locomitives. They built many routes, like the Inner Circle Line quickly. Several companys built the Metropolitan and the District Line, which ran towards Windsor or Southend-on-Sea. Now the District line ends in Upminster, Wimbledon, Richmond, Ealing Broadway or Edgeware Road, all in the Greater London.
