Alex Rudinger - NONVECTOR - “Frayed Vessels“ (Session Work)

I’ll be uploading quite a bit throughout the next several weeks - I’ve got a handful of videos on deck, including some fairly different content than what I normally post (building a stave snare!), as well as a bunch of play-throughs. To start things off I’m posting a couple play-throughs for session material! Last year I did quite a lot of session work, & some of those albums are finally coming out soon. This first play-through is “Frayed Vessels“ by NONVECTOR, off their upcoming album ’Ashen Time’. Nonvector is a prog band; when I first heard the material it gave me some big Intronaut-vibes (in fact, I think that’s one of the reasons they reached out / hired me. Lol!). I had a blast doing the drums for this album - make sure to follow Nonvector below for all updates on the release date, & the band in general (!): Video mix was handled by Declan White (who also mixed & mastered the entire album!) On to KIT SPECS! Pulled out the SC Maple for a few videos recently! #TAMA Drums - Starclassic Maple (in Satin Aztec Gold) 10x6.5 12x7 14x12 16x14 22x16 14x7 Cusworth Cast Bronze Snare (w/ matching Cast Bronze hoops) #MEINL Cymbals (from left to right, if sitting behind the kit) 18“ Classics Custom Dual Crash 15“ Byzance Traditional Medium Hi-Hats 12“ Classics Custom Dual Trash Splash 10“ Classics Custom Dual Splash 14“/12“ Stack *** 19“ Classics Custom Dual Crash 18“ Classics Dark Heavy China 21“ Byzance Traditional Heavy Ride *** (The Stack is comprised of a 14“ Byzance Traditional China on bottom, & a 12“ HCS Trash China on top. I think this mini HCS trash china is only available as part of the “HCS Trash Stack“... which, I believe I had one of, & the other cymbal in it cracked. So this lil’ mini china part of it sat around for ages, & then eventually I tried it out with this 14“ Byzance china, & it was pretty sick. That’s the whole story. Lol). #EVANS Drumheads Toms - Clear G2s (batter), Clear G1s (reso) Snare - Coated Heavyweight Dry (batter), Snare Side 300 (reso) Kick - Clear EQ4s (batter), Onyx w/ Port (reso) You may also notice the Pro Mark sticks! I’ve used Pro Mark before... for awhile, actually - when I left Vic Firth, but before my Tama Signature Stick was in full production. At any rate - sadly, Tama has decided to discontinue ALL artist signature sticks in North America (I believe they are maintaining a few in Japan), & as such, I am in the market for new sticks. I’ve actually been using a lot of different stuff recently, & am taking my time, trying different stuff out, before I make a decision on where to permanently move to. In this video I used the Pro Mark Forward 2B’s (wood tip)! I also just want to say thanks to Tama for ever giving me a Signature Stick to begin with. I’m sad that they’ve decided to discontinue all of them, but I also understand. The stick market isn’t an easy one. Absolutely nothing else about my relationship with Tama changes - I still endorse their drums & hardware, & am glad to be part of the family! On the plus side, being a free agent for sticks has been kinda fun... I’m in no rush to figure it out, so you’ll see me trying out a handful of things in the videos to come!
